3 Telltale Signs of a Poorly Installed Roof

You don’t think it can happen to you, but there are actually a lot of homeowners who fall victim to inexperienced or downright shady roofers who do a bad job installing a new roof. Unfortunately, a lot of people only find out that their roofing contractor installed their roof poorly when it needs to be repaired or it’s time for a roof replacement.

 Poorly Installed Roof

1. Uneven Appearance

If the contractor you worked with did a good job, your roof would have an even and uniform appearance. This means that every shingle or tile was installed with care and precision. Unfortunately, this can be a bit difficult to spot from ground level. You may have to give your roof a close inspection. If you notice any misalignments or bumps, contact an experienced roofing company right away.

2. Rainbow Roof

roofing company will refer to roofs that seem to have different colors as rainbow roofs. It could be a case where the shingles on one side are not aligned with those installed on another, resulting in a rainbowlike effect. While mostly an aesthetic issue, it is definitely not ideal and is a sign that the contractor that installed your roof does not have the necessary skills and experience.

3. Misuse of Nails

Nailing down shingles might seem like a simple enough task but you’d be surprised to know how many roofers out there don’t get it right, whether intentionally or not. When it comes to an expertly installed roof, proper nailing techniques and materials should always be considered. If your roofer uses the wrong kind of nails or did not use enough, it could lead to damaged or missing shingles.
